William Hill to Run Nevada Sports-Books

- 07/09/2012By Tommie ClarkGoogle
- This week, William Hill, the UK-based bookmaker made an agreement with Nevada’s Affinity Gaming LLC to operate their sports-books in the state. The top rated online casino received a license from the Nevada Gaming Commission at the end of June, marking its first entrance into the US market.
Affinity Gaming runs eleven casinos in Nevada, including Terrible’s Casino in Las Vegas. William Hill will now operate all the sports-books at Affinity casinos, giving it a Hill a fifty-five percent share of the sports-book market in the state.
As part of the deal, William Hill will make a significant financial investment in improving Affinity Gaming’s race and sports books. William Hill ultimately intends to operate all of the company’s sports-betting kiosks in Nevada.
In order to acquire the Nevada gaming license, William Hill withdrew from the Australian online casino games market because of an exiting law that technically made their operation illegal. The law exists on the books but no operator has ever prosecuted as a result. The company did not want to take a chance and wanted to ensure that Nevada regulators would view their operations favorably.
Joe Asher, William Hill U.S. CEO stated, “We have developed strong relationships with the Affinity Gaming team, providing a first-class betting product and collaborating on creative marketing programs, and we look forward to expanding the partnership.”
