No one else dared doing what BetFair did. They allowed players to fix their own odds. This was a huge unique selling point that helped the company grow to astronomical levels starting in 2000 bringing their value up to $2.3 billion today.

4. PlayTech

Another early player on the scene (starting in 1997), PlayTech went from strength to strength pretty silently. Most of their competitors ignored them because they just bulked released substandard games. However, because the volume of games PlayTech provided, they became very popular and their technology evolved into high end games bringing the company to today’s value of $3.3 billion – a huge leap above fifth placed BetFair.

3. Amaya Gaming

The reason Amaya became such a big player in the online casino market is because they made some wise investments, take overs and mergers. They took over PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cryptologic. The latter being one of the pioneers of the online gaming industry as it is today. The Canadian company is now worth a huge $3.62 million.

Yes ladies and gents – Paddy Power. The Irish street bookmakers has not just made it big on the streets, but also in the online world of virtual real money gaming. Now worth $3.9 billion!

1. William Hill

The king pin of them all is the British owned company William Hill. Another high street betting vendor that has also made it big online. The company started its online casinos very early on back in the day and also made online poker a reality as one of the first companies to release online poker software. Now they are worth a whopping $5.2 billion putting them streets ahead of the competition!
