The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) 2013 has been ripping up the tables at PokerStars this month with several 6 figure winners and WCOOP bracelets for the online champions that crack the virtual felts. There is no doubt that the site has the best online poker there is to be had with a constant flurry of players at its tables 24/7.

This comes as no surprise when you consider the gifts and loyalty programs the site offers, nevertheless comes as a surprise when you consider that poker players also like to take a punt on sports, roulette, slots and other gambling prospects, but PokerStars doesn’t offer any of these add on online casino bonus games on the side.

PokerStars has been putting on some of the best high stakes tournaments for some time now and with that comes massive prize pool guarantees. In fact the WCOOP is just the tip of the ice burg for the world’s largest online poker site.

There is the Spring Online Championship of Poker in which the latest main event was won by none other than Viktor “Isildur1” Blom who won $1 million in the $10k Main event reported here on poker news at http://www.pokernews.com/news/2013/05/viktor-isildur1-blom-wins-pokerstars-scoop-10k-main-event-15605.htm.

2013 SCOOP Main Event Winners
1st - Viktor "Isildur1" Blom won $1,096,200
2nd - Noah "Exclusive" Boeken won $803,300
3rd - “cmontopdeck” won $591,600
4th - Mike "munchenHB" Telker won $446,600
5th - Sergio "zcedrick" Aido won $313,200
6th - Ravi "govshark2" Raghavan won $246,500
7th - “w4ldo” won $188,500
8th – “leshkaGmBlZ” won $130,500

There is also the Australia and New Zealand Poker Series and the Asian Online Poker Series to consider where PokerStars have spread their wings to put on tournaments to suit the timings in the Asian and Oceania regions. Plus going back to the WCOOP’s Main Event in 2012 we have to recall the $1 million Main Event winner from Russia, who incidentally won his way there using his poker points.

It is no wonder PokerStars has topped the list of the best poker websites out there. This year the main event for the WCOOP has guaranteed the winner will get at least $1.25 million to take home. However is there more to be won playing online gaming?

The answer is yes. The slot machines even on the mobile networks have recently been paying out multi-million dollar prizes. In an earlier post it was mentioned that a MicroMillions slot machine just paid out over £3 million and since last May it had in fact turned out over €15 million in prize money. That’s just one slot machine with a player betting the max lines and coins in a few spins. It was of course a progressive jackpot and it only needs the odds to swing in the favour of the punter on the right day at the right moment to drop its mega jackpot prize.

Mixing it up between poker and online gambling may not be a feature of PokerStars, but it is something that poker players all over the internet are doing right now. Poker plus online gambling are probably right now the world’s 2 most successful micro economies.
