- Have you ever seen a baseball game where the pitcher intentionally throws at another player? This can happen for many reasons. Mainly because the other team did the same thing earlier in the game. As a pitcher you’re expected to hit an opposing team’s player or you could be outcast among your teammates. This is one of many unwritten rules in sports that many do not know about.
Just as sports have unwritten rules that most follow, casinos will have the same rules that aren’t officially posted. Failure to follow these could result in embarrassment or worse.
Not to worry though, we are here to help guide you through these unwritten laws so that the next time you visit a casino, you will be in proper form and behaving like a gentleman.
Never celebrate too much
This should go without saying for most, but there are still a few who like to get a little It’s ok to get excited, but there becomes a line that can be crossed. This usually happens when you win a hand while everyone else loses. You won’t make many friends if you celebrate your riches whilst others are losing.
Never count your money in the open
This is in poor taste for many reasons. For one, it’s just plain rude to count money in front of everyone. And more importantly, you are sending a signal to all the cheats and pickpockets oink the casino that you have a wad of cash. And most likely, if you are dumb enough to count this money where everyone can see, you’re likely to be an easy target.
Always Tip Dealers
Dealers are like a waiter or waitress; they rely on tips for a bulk of their income. If a dealer is at least competent, then a standard tip should always be given. This should always happen if you’re winning at the least. If you’re losing, then it’s no big deal to not leave a tip.
The amount depends on how much you win or how much you can afford. No amount is too small unless you’ve won a huge bet and only tip the dealer a few bucks, that’s just being cheap and likely to attract a few nasty glances.
Never hand the dealer cash
This is one rule that is actually written, but it’s important to note. When you walk up to a table, you can cash in your hard currency for chips at most casinos. Instead of trying to hand it directly to the dealers, you need to lay it down on the table. This is mainly for security reasons on the casinos side of things, but it’s important to know.
You will not get in any trouble if you try to hand the dealer cash, they will simply ask you to lay it on the table. It will save you a little embarrassment and make you look like you’ve been to this party before.
These are the most important rules to follow in a casino. There may be others, but for the most part, if you stick to these you will be just fine.
