Premiership Football Betting News

Right now football betting offers some of the most diverse betting options on the market. The latest being the odds on whether or not Premiership football clubs are allowed to bring back the standing terraces. With the argument for the return of standing capacity getting stronger the odds have been fluctuating giving punters something interesting to ponder as a long term punt.

Borussia Dortmund’s stadium has an 80,000 capacity with one third of that figure making up for standing capacity. Celtic are crying out to install standing capacity in their stadium while Cardiff just seem to ignore the rules and do it anyway. Right now the odds are around 2-1, so get your bets in early because this figure could change as the idea of standing capacity begins to gain sturdier backing, which it surely will.

Odds on the Relegation Battle

Norwich are 11/4 for relegation. These are great odds as right now the team are just three points away from the drop zone mid-way through the season. Aston Villa may look safe, but their form has been dreadful, and so a punt at 11/2 odds are well worth the risk. Spread bets for clubs such as Sunderland who are 10/11 to go down as they remain bottom of the table will soften up the risks for the Norwich and Villa bets.

Top Four Finish

For the Champions League spots there aren’t too many betting deals going on here. A good outside bet would be on Newcastle at 25/1. The safe money would go on Chelsea at 1/6, but the odds aren’t great and let’s not forget that anything could happen in the Premiership.

Liverpool look like a good side to bet on for the top four at 10/11. However, to be honest the top four will most likely be Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and either Liverpool or Man U.

The Title Race

The Premiership title race is also anyone’s game right now. You can get some of the best odds on teams such as Manchester United winning the league. As of the last day of 2013, the odds were 12/1 on United coming back for the title. Chelsea are 4/1 and Arsenal 9/2. Man City are even odds. With the title race so wide open the odds right now are giving an opportunity well worthy of a spread bet.

Bet $100 on Chelsea and Arsenal. Bet another $200 on Man City. Total expenditure $400. If Man City win the league you win your $200 back plus $200 on top at even odds covering your lost Arsenal and Chelsea bets. If Arsenal win, you’ll win $100 back plus $450. Your return covers your $100 and $200 Chelsea and Man City bets, therefore you have a $150 profit. You could also tie in Liverpool at 8/1 and Man United at 12/1, but that could just be greedy!
