Online-Poker-Tropfen im Vergleich zu Online-Casinos

The Italian government’s selfish and unprecedented idea to make sure that Italian players can only play poker versus other Italian players has already begun to backfire. Many say the plot only serves to make corrupt government officials wealthier as they own large holding interests in some of the online casinos directly and indirectly. The plan went ahead under the guise that all the taxes will kept within Italy helping the country’s poor economic situation.

As a result of what many call a ludicrous idea to keep Italian poker players only playing on Italian poker sites the industry is starting to lose money on its cash games’

In Italy, the poker industry has been referred to as a ring-fenced strategy. There are no international players and so this less appealing structure appears to have contributed to the massive decline in online poker. Last month €8.5 million came in compared to December’s €11.2 million marking a 24% decline compared to the same time in 2014. In 2012 the combined total of licenced Italian poker rooms took €14.8 million. December 2014’s results then show a massive 43% decline.

‘Even the tournament poker side has shown massive percentage losses

For online poker tournaments the drop has not been so vast, but there has still been a 5% reduction in income from €70 million recorded in 2013 to €65 million in December 2014.

‘Despite the drops in tournament and cash poker games online, PokerStars still remains Italy’s top poker site’

PokerStars took 72% of all cash and tournament poker earning in the country. With the ring-fenced version of online poker in Italy, the entire system has literally opened itself up to a monopoly akin to that of Microsoft in the IT market despite Apple, Microsoft’s main competitor, pulling some of Bill Gate’s massive IT software company’s market share.

‘On the other hand, online casinos have been performing in Italy and as such this industry is outshining the online poker tables of PokerStars and other Italian online poker rooms’

Virtual casinos have reported a combined increase of 24% over 2014. With hundreds of great no deposit bonus codes luring more players into the casinos for the free gaming; while also turning many of these free players into real money players.

‘Casino operators that have not yet applied for an Italian licence to distribute their games in the market may well start to change their minds as the market seems highly lucrative’

A market on the rise is bound to spike the interest of some of the bigger online casino developers. Italian players still have a great selection of games, but they still miss out on the best of them. However, this is likely about to change. The story is clear; online poker is not happening, but online casinos in Italy are on the rise so the closed-fence operation is showing some success.
