The Des Moines Register has reported that the issue of online poker in the state of Iowa has not been forgotten but merely delayed.  Gamers in the state of Iowa are waiting patiently for the legalization of online, real-money gaming.

The bill proposing to legalize online gaming in Iowa has not reached the floor due to objection from within the Senate.  The Senate's Way and Means Committee declared that they were in need of more information before allowing the bill to hit the floor.

The Ways and Means Committee explained that the bill was too controversial to be discussed this year and that it will be postponed until 2012 for passing.  The committee explained that in order for the bill to have optimal chance for approval, a full report proposal needs to be submitted to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission by December 1, 2011.

The decision to postpone the bill for decision until next year will allow politicians to have needed time to consider the fact that many citizens of Iowa are already gaming online.  Senator William Dotzler also explains that the revenue contribution brought on by the legalization of online poker will be an important factor for politicians to consider and the extra year will definitely attribute to the proposal.
