Is Montenegro Next In Line to Offer Gambling Licenses?
- 11/04/2011By Pamela PattersonGoogle
The nation of Montenegro, situated in the south of Europe passed an online gambling law earlier in 2011 and now, as 2012 approaches, it is moving ahead with the next logical step to offer licenses, financial services and hosting services for online casino and betting operators. These new offerings are set to start from as early as January 2012.
Montenegro is an attractive stop for many gambling operators as the country is politically stable, is part of the European Union and offers generally liberal gambling regulations while still being EU compliant. Businesses enjoy low corporate and personal taxes (9%) and a license in as little as just one week with a 2-day registration process. There are no limits on remitted profits and interest and they do not require a minimum amount of capital to apply for a license, which is especially appealing to new operators.
Interestingly enough, Montenegro in its own way is making a bold move with this offer. They have only been considered autonomous (from Serbia) since 1996 and have never made a move which would have implied full independence and potentially provoked the Serbs. Now quite established, Montenegro will offer quality banking services as well as price competitive web hosting services to offer casino operators everything in a one-stop-shop style solution.
