Amaya to Bring Sports Betting and Casino Games to PokerStars

- 12/29/2014By Pamela PattersonGoogle
- PokerStars, the world’s largest and most successful online poker site has recently revealed their plans to implement casino table games and sports betting on a global basis.
This will be done on a market-by-market basis that will initially see popular casino games blackjack and roulette being made accessible to almost half of its player base by the end of this year. 2015 will see the addition of many other popular casino games before also implementing sports betting too. They also plan to develop, produce and launch a fully-featured casino that will be accessible by both mobile and PC users sometime next year.
Amaya Gaming, as you might already know, bought out Rational Group, the parent company of both PokerStars and Full Tilt for $4.9 billion at the end of July this year. They obviously have a strong background in developing online casinos and it is no real surprise to see them heading in this direction.
Whilst many may believe that the move into casino based games and sports betting has been heavily influenced since Amaya Gaming bought out PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker a few months ago, the wheels had already been in motion at the start of 2014 when Full Tilt and PokerStars.es implemented a selection of casino games onto their clients.
The success of both ventures has encouraged Amaya to push on with this transition after it was revealed that as many as 30% of poker players on the sites had begun to play the casino games too. Additionally, a poll revealed that as many as half of the player base that uses the casino at Full Tilt claimed that it was the only casino that they use.
PokerStars Option to Remove
PokerStars has always been aware that many poker players will not like the transition from a poker only client to one that now has casino games too, so they will be implementing features that will give players the chance to remove the casino games and any marketing from their clients.
Additionally, the casino games have been developed with a strong focus on what poker players would enjoy. With regards to both Blackjack and Roulette, the games have been designed with multiplayer features, to be more social and have a wide range of stakes available from micro stakes of $0.10c right up to some of the higher stakes that can be found at the poker tables.
This line of thinking is thought to have been a smart move by PokerStars, who are trying to cater the casino market to that of their loyal poker playing customer base rather than alienate them.
