There will also be a host of opportunities to get into the event via online satellites.

One of the main attractions will be the massive $1 million guaranteed events that comes with a low buy-in to match. For just $500 + $65, the event is sure to attract a mixture of world class players along with some of poker’s not so illustrious elite looking to make a name for themselves by cracking through the bubble and contemplating the possibility of a televised final table appearance.

Hosting the tournament and event is the Aria Resort and Casino located on the infamous Las Vegas Strip setting the scene for will be one of poker’s most prestigious events thanks to its ingenious low buy-in and high prize pool guarantee.

Online poker players that have cracked the game and regularly get into the cash spots are constantly looking for low buy-in high prize pool guarantees. The return on investment is far better than playing a sit and go or a tournament with a lower prize pool. Regular tournament players understand that if they are good enough to burst through the bubble even in 1 out of 10 tournaments, they know that the higher the prize pool the better the pay-out in the long run. The latest WPT will have the entire poker world’s attention as they try to get involved in the latest WPT500 event.

It has been almost 12 years since the last $500 buy-in was placed on a WPT schedule. That was back in 2002 in a Costa Rica classic. Although, back then this was in fact considered a high poker buy-in compared to today, hence the publicity stirred up by the latest decision by the WPT to put on an event that is affordable for pretty much most of the general population in Europe and the US where poker is most popular.

Some have labelled this event a super low-roller, which is quite an exciting way to label the $500 + $65 buy-in; coupled with a $1 million prize pool. With such a high prize pool, there is the possibility that there may not be an overlay on this event, but we can’t rule out the possibility. If there are 2,000 players registering for the event, then any further entrees will mean the $1 million prize pool will overlay. There is a real possibility that this event could do that, and possibly attract WSOP Main Event numbers.

WPT’s Alpha8 series is fast becoming one of the most popular world poker series of event today. The set-ups, luxurious casinos and the backing for the WPT and its events more than challenge the WSOP. One of the highest honours in poker today includes a WPT event win; it is the Triple Crown that most poker player seek. This is a WSOP, EPT and WPT win. Right now Elky is a proud Triple Crown winner!
