Playing poker these days is tougher than ever, the amount of information out there allows players to learn at an expanded rate. This isn’t to say the games are unbeatable though. There is still plenty of money to be made and with a few pieces of software you can gain a serious edge on your opponents.

Tracking Software

Tracking programs are pieces of software that import all your hand histories while playing online poker. The software takes these histories and imports them into its database and allows reviewing every hand you play. Not only does it track your own hands, it will track your opponents as well.

The best part of tracking programs is the information you get other players. Every hand history will contain each players hand and what happened during that hand. The software then takes this information and gives a number based HUD (heads up display) and shows this information on the table in real time.

Now you can see everything a player has done in the time you have played against them. How many times they raise, 3 bet, fold, continuation bet and so on. There is a wealth of information right at your fingertips to make decisions much easier.

A good example of how this can help you play and make more money is by using this HUD in real time. You can use a stat such as how often a player folds to a continuation to make more money. Even when you don’t have a hand, you can bluff if your information in this hud shows that they fold to 90% of continuation bets. On the flip side, if this information shows they never fold to a c-bet, you can easily check when you don’t have a hand and bet big when you do. You can see just how easy your decisions can become just with this one piece of information. Imagine having hundreds of these stats at your disposal.

Most of these programs do cost money, but it is very small compared to the money you can win by using it. The charge is a onetime fee most of the time and varies from $50 to $150. The best two programs out there are called Hold Em Manager and Poker Tracker.

Table Ninja

Table Ninja is a program that allows to easily play more tables than ever before. Part of being able to make more money playing online is being able to play lots of tables. This is not always easy and Table Ninja will take most of the work out of your hands.

This ingenious piece of software allows you to program everything form bet sizing, amount of tables to open and much more. While running this program it will automatically switch to the table that deserves an action. You don’t need to move your mouse to the tables anymore. The table will be highlighted in a color of your specification to make it very easy to see which table you are making a decision at.

It has hundreds of functions that allow to pretty much play on autopilot. You can set the program to auto click the time bank so you never time out again. Set the amount you wish to bet on each street. This means when you’re in a hand, the bet box will automatically display the amount you have set the program to.

With all these functions working in tandem, you really don’t need to do anything and can focus on your decision making. This is a must tool for any online poker player a nd is relatively cheap at only $50 or so.

There are other programs out there, but they are mainly a one of a kind item. Meaning they will only do one thing and not really help you overall. Some are worth checking out, but they are not needed. Programs like Note Caddy will keep notes on players for you, but this now comes with some editions of Hold Em Manager.
