- This past week, the Nevada Gaming Commission announced that South Point Poker received a license to operate within the state. The top rated online casino operator is the first poker room to have its online real-money poker website be legally approved in the United States.
After reviewing the website, technology and entire South Point portfolio, the Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved licensure.
South Point Poker’s chief operating officer, Lawrence Vaughan, expressed his company’s excitement over the news. He said that this is a big step for the brand and will ensure that it can help redefine what gaming is and what the state of Nevada is capable of. Vaughan said that the company is aiming to launch in October of 2011 after it undergoes the necessary testing and receives the go ahead from the regulations committee. Like all the other approved casinos, South Point Poker is required to submit its operations plan before launching.
Additionally, Monarch Interactive of Reno, also received an online casino games license from the Nevada Gaming Commission. In order to operate, the company must develop a partnership with licensed interactive gaming service providers in the state. Currently, the law only permits poker as interactive gaming.
Monarch Interactive has said they are pleased to have received a Nevada licenses and they are in the process of reviewing potential partnership opportunities.
