Glimmer of Hope for Full Tilt

The past few months have not been easy for Full Tilt Poker, however, it appears there may be a glimmer of hope for the battered poker enterprise.  New reports about licensing may signal the beginnings of the reopening of Full Tilt.

Before the good news, though, there is some lingering bad news still coming out of the April shut-down.  Rumors are spreading that all of Full Tilt’s U.S. employees have or will be laid off.  Since April, the entire staff has been receiving full pay even though the site has been essentially inoperative.  Apparently, the financial burden was too big for Full Tilt to handle.

There is, however, one Full Tilt employee still on the payroll – CEO Ray Bitar – though it should be added that he is federally indicted, so his situation is not any better than the laid-off employees.

The good news is coming from the north.  In the Quebec province, Kahnawake has provided authorization for Kolyma, a Full Tilt subsidiary, to operate in their territory.  This is the Kolyma gambling corporation, not to be confused with the Gulag slave labor camps in Siberia, Russia.

The license renewal is to last two years.  During these two years it is expected that the Kahnawake Gaming Commission will be closely watching the Alderney Gambling Control Commission who are investigating Kolyma’s licensing through Full Tilt.

The Alderney Gambling Control Commission confirmed that Full Tilt has thus far paid approximately half a million dollars in fees owed.  The payment of the fees is important to customers who are waiting for a settlement in regards to withdrawing their winnings.

Before the USDOJ crack-down last spring, Full Tilt Poker was the second most highly trafficked poker web site in the world.
