Casino Mobile Technology Needs to Grow

Now with the arrival of Windows 8 phones all the online casinos need to start moving into the development of Windows 8 technology for mobile phones faster because right now they are losing a massive portion of the marketplace.

This problem isn’t exclusively restricted to the casinos either. Some of the bigger poker sites are yet to release any version of software that can be installed on the new Windows 8 phones. Many of the casino and poker forums are full of new Samsung ATIV, Nokia Lumia, HTC and LG owners crying out for software to be released that can be used to get onto the virtual casino and poker felts while on the move.

Right now this is a massive oversight in the market by the Windows 8 mobile technology teams, the casinos, as well as the customers of Nokia and Samsung who have purchased the new Windows 8 mobile technologies. On the one hand the casinos are losing valuable patronage, while on the other hand the customers have dug themselves into a hole because they have paid a pricey sum for their Windows phone assuming that the casino software will work on the phone owing to the fact that the phone is after all a Windows OS. It seems that just because it is Windows 8 it doesn’t mean every application works on the phone as would on a PC.

The biggest risk now is with the casino businesses that are yet to move into Windows 8 technology. There are literally millions of online casino players around the world that love to log on and play using their mobile software while they are on the move. That means that anyone who has been in the market for a new phone lately and was already aware of the lack of support from the Windows phones will have opted for either Apple’s IOS or an Android OS phone already. For the casinos that would mean ploughing loads of cash into developing Windows 8 mobile software may be a waste of cash because many of the players have not yet adopted or avoided the new Windows smartphone releases.

However, to refute that line of thought it does look as if Windows 8 is here to stay. The attitude should then be the quicker the better and that is the general feeling amongst casino fans.

As the PC and laptop market begin to switch to make the major transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 the demand for Windows 8 phones is bound to increase. That then leaves 2 issues for the casinos that have not adopted software options that work with Windows 8. Firstly, the producers of Windows 8 phones are going to continue losing sales for segments of their markets that are online casino players. Secondly, the casinos not pushing themselves enough to get Windows 8 software will begin to lose customers to online casinos who have already created mobile packages for Windows 8 phones. It could be another case of Kodak failing to act on the technological and social changes to digital in the photography market.

It seems right now some casinos are saying they support Windows 8, but when the download comes the phones are rejecting the file as the file is in actual fact not supported. The best piece of advice for anyone that is an online gambler, and likes to gamble from their mobile is to do all the reading you can before decide which phone supports your casino. Windows 8 mobile technology is great, but disappointing when you find you casino doesn’t really support that app or to discover instant play doesn’t work.
